Felicia Evans Long, MBA
Founder and Owner 
 
Felicia Evans Long is no stranger to the Event Planning or Candy Industry. As a southern girl born in Lumberton, North Carolina she grew up not only cooking and baking but worked as a freelance event planner for local events for her community, high school, friends, and family and often sold candy and ice cream to local residence. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina and earned her Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix in Arizona.
 
Felicia’s small business Sweet Candy Café located in Historic Downtown Lumberton was featured in the 2013 issue of the Entrepreneur issue of Phoenix Focus, A University of Phoenix Magazine. In October 2014, Sweet Events and Planning, sister company to Sweet Candy Café was featured in Woman’s World Magazine. In February 2015, Felicia was the recipient of a grant from the MC/Manufacturing Confectionery Publishing Company of Princeton, Wisconsin. This educational grant will allow her small business Sweet Candy Café to participate in the Sweets & Snacks Expo in Chicago in May. Felicia on behalf of Sweet Candy Café received a restoration grant from the City of Lumberton, North Carolina in April 2015.
 
Felicia enjoys traveling, tradeshows, and mentoring. Felicia was also featured in the Fall 2010 issue of The Knot Washington, DC Wedding magazine, named the sweetest booth by the Washington Bridal Showcase in Bethesda, Maryland, and has been featured in several on-line and print newspapers and publications. Felicia is socially involved with public service work, 2015 Lumberton Chamber of Commerce, former board member of Suited for Change Organization, non-profit organization and a member Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. 
 
In August 2014, Felicia’s husband and co-founder of Sweet Candy Café, Tim Long passed away suddenly. Felicia will continue to dedicate her husband’s hard work and zest for life as she continues to build the brands of Sweet Events and Planning and Sweet Candy Café in Tim’s memory.
Nicole D. Hayes

Nicole D. Hayes is the co-founder of Pieces of Life, LLC, a Washington, D.C.-based media relations consultancy since September 2008. Founded with her brother Bryan, the company's mantra of "making our investment in people" aligns with Nicole's personal and professional beliefs. Through Pieces of Life, she provides her public relations expertise to small businesses and nonprofit organizations who desire to share their stories in the media space but lack in-house experience or budget to hire a full-service agency. Considered someone who is "results-driven," Nicole continues to deliver in media placements for her clients. She brings a strong proven record of delivering beyond her clients' goals and expectations. Since 2009, Nicole has provided media relations and outreach support to several businesses including Sweet Events and Planning and Sweet Candy Café.

Prior to starting her business, Nicole provided marketing outreach and partnership development for large consumer and government clients with international public relations agency, Fleishman-Hillard, in Washington, D.C. Some of her clients included the Department of the Army, Department of Homeland Security, AARP, D.C. Commission for the Arts and Humanities and the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy.

She has secured client placements with BlackEnterprise.com, Essence.com, TheGrio.com, The Bev Smith Show, The Tom Joyner Morning Show, and mainstream outlets such as CNN American Morning, American Prospect Politico, CNBC's "The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch" and The Knot DC to name a few, along with many regional and trade print and online outlets.

Pasion Bankhead
Marketing Intern
 
Pasion Bankhead is a native of Spartanburg, South Carolina. She is currently a senior and Integrated Marketing Communication major at Winthrop University.  Pasion is the General Manager for Winthrop’s campus radio station, WINR and a volunteer at the Arts Council of York County and a member of Gamma Beta Phi. She enjoys reading, writing, spending time with her friends and family and the art of planning events. 
 
In summer 2013, Pasion volunteered and worked on various assignments for Sweet Events and Planning. This year as a summer intern 2014 for Sweet Events and Planning and Sweet Candy Café, she will work closely with store owner Felicia Evans Long on a vast amount of tasks ranging from marketing projects for branding both businesses to managing the preparation process of planning events.
 
Pasion hopes to open her own public relations firm in a few years but her ultimate dream is to start her own non-profit organization for children. Please help us welcome Pasion Bankhead to our team. 
Quin Mathis
Retail Specialist
 
YaQuin "Quin" Mathis, attends the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in Pembroke, North Carolina, majoring in engineering with an interest in Sports Science. During his brief break from college, he will be working as a Retail Specialist at Sweet Candy Café. Quin is athletic and enjoys sports. He enjoys meeting new, learning new things, and looking forward to experiencing the world of confectionery at Sweet Candy Café.
Courtney Polston
Retail Specialist
 
Courtney Polston is a native of Pembroke, North Carolina. She is an aspiring student of radiography, specializing in ultrasound technology. In her free time, she enjoys socializing with friends and spending time with her family. She is enthusiastic about working at Sweet Candy Cafe and serving our sweet clientele.
Jill Z.
Creative Assistant
 
Jill first met Felicia during her senior year of college and the two hit it off right away. Jill works behind the scenes designing documents, from flyers for Sweet Candy Café to managing projects for Sweet Events and Planning, LLC coordinated events. She provides support for special events, public outreach, and assists with Sweet Candy Café social media presence.
