Sweet Candy Café Grand Opening!

Local small business owner and Lumberton native Felicia Evans Long and her husband Tim Long will host a public grand opening of their new confectionary store Sweet Candy Café, located at 212 N. Chestnut in Lumberton, N.C., on Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Various confectionary treats, complimentary beverages and snacks will be provided by Sweet Candy Café while supplies last. A ribbon cutting ceremony for Sweet Candy Café will occur on Friday, November 30 at 3 p.m.

The December 1 grand opening of Sweet Candy Café was nearly derailed by an October 10 fire that destroyed several local businesses in downtown Lumberton, including the Longs’ previous retail space located at 310 N. Elm Street. The Longs sustained significant property loss in the fire and have rebuilt with the help of community and building owner, Richard “Dick” Taylor.

“We extend a special thank you to Mr. Taylor for how he has assisted us in the rebuild and transition into our new space since the October fire,” says Evans Long. “His help and support has been exceptional in bringing Sweet Candy Café to the Lumberton community.”

Evans Long, a 1994 Shaw University graduate has always desired to open a candy store in her hometown of Lumberton. Sweet Candy Café is a fun, unique candy store with old-fashioned candies from the past and present. She created the store because of her love for confectionery treats. Sweet Candy Café will have regular store hours of 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday thru Saturday during the holiday season.
